On 21 March 2024, the two-day conference entitled “Civil Protection and Safe Cities – SIGG” was held in Lovran. KING ICT participated with a lecture on the topic “VEPAR project – Improving hydrological monitoring systems for surface waters”. KING’s representative was Matija Mandić, Director of Physical Security and Passive Network Solutions.
Matija gave a presentation highlighting the role of KING ICT in the VEPAR project, which includes managing flood risks in Croatia, with an aim to increase catastrophe resilience.
KING ICT is working with its partners to implement this project, which is currently Europe’s largest hydrology project.
“KING ICT is playing an important role in the implementation of a technical protection system in pumping stations and the establishment of an integral incident management system. This system integrates all types of incidents in the project (including pumping stations, hydrology stations, and the technical protection system) into a single system of surveillance and management,” explained Matija.
The central incident management system is aligned with the highest standards of cybernetic security and is aligned with the NIS2 legislation. This is a series of European cybersecurity safety measures aimed at improving resilience and capacity for incident response in the public and private sector, and in the EU as a whole.
The project is co-financed with funds from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRR).
